Section titled “LightCMS: A CMS That Makes You Love The Craft of Writing Content Again.”

LightCMS is a self hostable easy to use CMS built for managing content for static site generators, wrapped in a beautiful and gorgeous WYSIWYG editor.

💡 WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get

I use LightCMS to run my own blog, so you can check that in action.

The CMS is live at lightcms.pratyay.qzz.io.

LightCMS is built around a simple belief No one should come in between you and your content .

Powered entirely by open source technologies like:

  • SvelteKit
  • PostgreSQL
  • Probot / Octokit
  • Better Auth

You can inspect it, modify it, self-host it, and contribute to it — the whole thing is on GitHub.

I wanted starting a ssg based blog, and setting up a site was quicker than sipping a cup of coffee, But content management is tedious feels more like database administration and less like actually writing.

Static sites are the simplest, most eco-friendly way to put content on the web but the publishing workflow can be a mess. If you’re running a blog with Hugo, Astro, Jekyll, or another static site generator, you know the drill: jump between editors install crazy extensions, Git fetch/pull/push, CI/CD and in between all of this somewhere the main source of motivation for sharing knowledge and experience, gets lost.

LightCMS is my attempt to bridge that gap between your experience sharing and the internet itself.

And in the meantime you should be kind to the planet, too. You can read more about the environmental impact of static sites, and even check the carbon footprint of your existing website.
